Where’s The Pope?
Fri 3 Nov @ 7:30 pm

For the first time in almost 15 years, legendary Adelaide punk band Where’s the Pope? have reformed for one eardrum-splitting night at The Gov on Friday November 3.
The local hardcore and thrash pioneers enjoyed a massive and devoted following through the 80s and 90s releasing four albums including their Greasy Pop masterwork Sunday Afternoon Barbecues, a pulsating musical tribute to the joys of intoxication, including their smash hit and mission statement We Want Your Beer and the anthemic title track Sunday Afternoon Barbecues. Both songs made the Top 20 of the best South Aussie songs ever released.
Aside from playing Early Big Day Outs and major supports, Where’s the Pope are best remembered for the intensity and excitement of their local shows at legendary venues, with their gigs at the pre-pokies “Holdy” at Glenelg the stuff of folklore. As southern suburbs ambassador and AFL/radio star Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald puts it:
The reformed Where’s the Pope features final line-up members Frank P on vocals, Alex Madigan on guitar, Rob Stafford on bass, joined by Jeff Stephens on guitar and Dave McCann (Nibbles) on drums.
Plus special guests THE MEANIES and NUMBSKULLS
