Her Story – of the Blues Marie Trees (FRINGE 25)

Sat 15 Mar @ 6:00 pm

IT’S OFFICIAL!!! BEST MUSIC WINNER – FRINGE ’25 : WEEK 1

WAHOOO! Such Validation for the amazing Mari-Trees as she
returns to the spotlight and her point of origin where Mari embarks upon a sonic mission to restore recognition to early female blues musicians.

Presenting music of the trailblazing women who pioneered the blues, conceived rock & pop, and were then – promptly forgotten! Music from the Mississippi Delta – to the clubs of Harlem – to your local Petrol Station.

Enraged by erasure and colonial continuity, this one-woman-warrior determines to dismantle the shelves of history, revealing the genesis of rock music in the legacy of these early blues women.

Settle in with a delicious dinner to set the scene with an authentic menu from America’s Southern States in the mid 40’s- 50’s. You’ll find a copy of the menu with some of Mari’s illustrations in the of this Facebook event.

Simply book a Meal & Show Ticket on the link below and choose your Main on arrival.

Featuring Mari-Trees on all instruments. Through piano, percussion, guitar and vocals, MT delivers a raw sound that is compelling and original, providing homage to the early blues musicians.

Tap, clap, hum & sing along!

Behind the activist…..

Mari-Trees (MT) was born to a social activist opera junky and a concert pianist.
She decided early on to do whatever it takes to stop Gilbert & Sullivan permeating her brain, trying very hard to not become a musician. However, fate would have it that pianos continued to fall in front of her. She’s lucky to be alive!

Having escaped to remote regions of the world to steep deep into the musical traditions of West Africa, West Coast Ireland and the West Wing of the Elder Con Jazz School, MT continues to be obsessed with the nuts and bolts of music; writing, and creating in blues, soul, folk and world genres.
