[PIANOLAB] Lux Aeterna + Trapezia

Sat 15 Jun @ 9:00 pm

ILA presents: PianoLab 2024

Presenting 5 concerts across two days, PianoLab is a festival that defies boundaries, reimagining both the piano and the recital within the immersive digital setting of ILA.

The second of 2 experimental recitals presented for the first time in The Lightroom Studio (entry via The Lab), featuring work from:

CORIN (Eora / Syd) presenting ‘Lux Aeterna’

Sebastian Collen + Maryam Rahmani + CAPITAL WASTE presenting ‘Trapezia’

A dissection of sound as a sentient being, morphing and growing in the eternal light.

Corin Ileto (Eora/Syd) delivers a dynamic exploration of other worldly soundscapes through her use of granular synthesis, ethereal production, and transcendental visual storytelling. Mechanical figures consult the monolith. A fantastical and impactful presentation of sound and vision.

Continuing the digestion of the mechanical, Sebastian Collen offers a conversation in preparation, the disassembly of instrumentation, and the joy of deep sound. Partaking in this deconstruction will be Maryam Rahmani, combining a traditional mastery of the Iranian santur with a decidedly experimental approach.

Strings collide in this exploration of audiovisual resonance, with additional visual texture produced live by Liam Somerville, aka CAPITAL WASTE.

PianoLab is a two-day festival that defies boundaries, reimagining both the piano and the recital within the immersive digital setting of ILA.

In this second iteration of the festival, PianoLab 2024 explores the relationship between nineteenth-century instrumentation, twenty-first-century technology, and creative new ideas.

Co-curated by ILA Creative Producer Lewis Godwin and South Australian composer and pianist, Benjamin Nicholls.
