Punjabi Australian singer and dancer Parvyn Singh will be performing songs from her recently released ‘Best World Music’ ARIA nominated album ‘Sa’ interspersed with traditional and contemporary material covering a wide array of genres from jazz, pop, classical Indian and folk.

Parvyn’s breath-taking voice has captured the hearts of audiences around the world touring globally from a young age with her father Dya Singh then as lead vocalist in Bollywood psychedelic rock band The Bombay Royale.

Besides being an educator, Zhao is an exciting and highly accomplished composer and musician, with a heart for the community and touch of an artist. She is one of South Australia’s most grounded artists as her initiatives, projects and collaborations have been heavily focused within South Australia.

Artistically, Zhao has been part of different ensembles and groups, exploring and projecting the different sides of her music. Her earlier initiatives include Oriental Flair and Moonta Street, and later ensembles Radial Quartet and San Ureshi.

With like-minded friends, she likes to experiment with various styles, breaking boundaries yet embracing tradition. Since then, her compositions have stretched from ensembles to orchestras, with a touch of classical with improvisations.

She also believes in accessible arts and has supported local councils in developing programs for the wider community with a touch of arts and music. These programs have been supported by City of Salisbury, City of Adelaide, City of Playford and Multicultural SA in various stages. Today she is Artistic Principal at School of Chinese Music & Arts, and also Education Program Co-ordinator at Nexus Arts.

Zhao will share stories of traditional guzheng music as she performs them.
