Close your eyes when Schmoe & Co play, and it’s not difficult to imagine that you’re in a New York jazz club listening to a world-class hard bop act. That’s because you are. With up-tempo standards that keep toes tapping, to ballads that will stop a heart in its tracks, Schmoe Elhay (tenor sax) is uncompromising in his pursuit of melody, harmony and rhythm.
